AFi Exclusive Reveal – @GentleGiantLTD ‘s Jumbo #SuperPowers #SDCC Exclusives

This week, our friends at Gentle Giant ltd. began revealing their 2016 Comic Con exclusives.  Today we have the great honor of revealing two more exclusive, limited edition items that will be available at SDCC 2016.

The exclusive Star Wars Jumbos announced yesterday as well as the two new Jumbo figures announces here are CRAZY low quantities!!  We are talking only 250 of each of them!  The good news is that if you are already a member of Gentle Giant’s Premier Club you have a shot at pre-ordering them right now! But don’t wait!  The quantity set aside for the club members for the Luke Jumbo yesterday sold out in about an hour.   if you miss the pre-sale then you have to battle the 100,000 con goers for the remaining exclusives, and speaking from experience in years past that stinks!

The reveals today are from my new favorite Jumbo line, DC’s Super Powers!   The first two figures from the regular are shipping now (Flash and Wonder Woman, we’ll have full features on both of those this week on AFi).  For the SDCC exclusives we get a special take on the big 2 – Superman and Batman.

These “first shot” versions of Batman and Superman are reminiscent of the jumbo “prototype rocket firing Boba Fett” that Gentle Giant released several years ago, and are a fun was to get these highly anticipated versions out there early and a great way to beef up your Super Powers Jumbo collection in a hurry!

My favorite part about them is that, like the Jumbo Fett and Blue Snaggletooth they come packaged on their narrow card making these seem like the Canadian gas station “slim card” Super Powers releases!

The “S” shield on Superman in the images below is an early version of the figure.   The production version is more accurate to the Super Powers version.

These JUST landed on my front doorstep.  I’ll have carded and loose images of these figures up on AFi later today so stay tuned!  In the meantime check out the information on these below and if you want them order now!

Superman First Shot Prototype Super Powers SDCC 2016 EX Jumbo Figure
All toys begin with the PROTOTYPE! This Superman figure replicates the appearance of a first look or “first shot” action figure as it would have been developed during the manufacturing process. A true rarity that is highly sought after in the toy collecting world!
Kenner was responsible for some of the greatest, most collectible toys the 80’s had to offer. 1984’s The Super Powers Collection was no exception. The hugely successful line showcased DC’s mightiest heroes and villains! Batman, The Joker, Green Lantern and more were all represented.

The scanning pioneers at Gentle Giant Ltd. used an original mint condition Super Powers figure to make a highly accurate digital model with the use of three dimensional data capture cameras. This digital data was then enlarged to 12” and printed using top of the line 3D Systems machines. Making the final piece an extremely accurate scaled replica, right down to our hero’s iconic fabric cape!
Prototype collecting is a hobby unto itself. Much like collecting art! With this “First Shot” design, Gentle Giant offers both fans and collectors a first look at our Superman collectible and an exciting taste of behind the scenes toy making magic.
To further capture the vintage vibe, Gentle Giant packages their figures on a Kenner themed backer card using all original sourced photos and artwork. Always designed with the collector in mind, the figure comes in a re-sealable plastic outer clam shell for years of enjoyment and display.
Limited to just 250 pieces, this Man of Steel collectible will be gone faster than a speeding bullet.
