AFi’s “Ask Matty” Mattel Q&A Answers for November 15th, 2012

Twice a month the gang from Mattel are kind enough to answer five questions from AFi readers.  The Mattel marketing and PR team, have replied with the answers to our latest round of questions that AFi readers have posted in our forums.

Here is our latest round of questions and their answers:

Q1.  What is the story on the Red Hood figure shown at NYCC?  Is that for the retail Batman Unlimited line or for the DCIE sub line?  Was that a figure already in the pipeline and that’s why it’s being made?  I don’t recall seeing Red Hood on any wishlists, especially in a costume that only lasted 4 issues.  Hopefully it lands in the Batman line becasue if not this is NOT a good indication of you knowing what collectors are looking for in the Sub. (Or a bit more delecate version of the same question)  why was the short-lived (basically one-off) cape/superhero-y version of Red Hood chosen for the DCIE subscription over the more well known (even by NON-Batfans like me) jacketed version, which could have used the Mr. Terrific/Animal Man buck? I guess I shouldn’t hope for a swappable domino mask head, either?

A1. The Red Hood figure is part of our online CIE program and will be a monthly figure. The version of Red Hood was selected by the Horsemen and approved by DC.

Q2.  It seems like the toys aisles are devoid of any Mattel DC toys so what, if any DC toys will be available at retailers for Christmas?

A2.  The Batman Evergreen line, Dark Knight Rises and DC Unlimited will all be at retail this year!

Q3.  As we now have Fisto and will be getting his evil opposite Jitsu, what are the chances of getting both their steeds Stridor and Night Stalker? Does the fact that these characters, as with Battle Cat and Panthor, (being two figures from mostly one buck) mean that they are likely or has the drop in sub interest killed their chances of being made?

A3.  We would love to get to the robotic horses and TG is a big fan of them having owned Stridor as a kid. While no plans to announce they are on the short list if we can get to them. After all, both use the same “buck” so it would be easier vs. a 100% tool figure that can only be used once (like Ram Man). But no plans right now.

Q4.  Any idea when we will see a preview for the new Batman (60′s show) line and is there an idea of when it will be on the shelves?

A4.  Ideally at NYTF in Feb. But nothing set yet.

Q5.  With Lead, Platinum and Tin coming out, is there a possibility that we’ll see Doc Magnus and Copper figures to complete the Metal Men action figures series?  Also would Alloy be possible as an oversized figure?

A5.  Always a possibility. We don’t have anything locked in but he would be an essential member to really complete the team huh?

If you’d like to ask a question for the  Dec. 1st submission then feel free to post your questions in our Mattel Q&A question submissions thread!   Remember they can be about any Mattel product including MOTUC, Ghostbusters, WWE, any of the Mattel DC lines, Voltron and Cars.
