“Be the Zombie” mode for Dying Light revealed

Warner Bros. reveals preorder-exclusive multiplayer mode that allows gamers to play as predators; open-world game playable at PAX Prime this weekend.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced a Be the Zombie mode for Dying Light, which allows gamers to play as predators in the game's multiplayer component.

Preordering Dying Light in North America is the only way to access the Be the Zombie mode at launch, though it is unclear if the mode will be available to all at a later date.

In the Be the Zombie mode, players will stalk other players as a "night hunter," a zombie mutation described as a "lethal predator" with skills like super speed, a grapple tool, and special attacks.

The night hunter also has its own special skill tree, which players can advance through by completing rounds as the zombie creature.

Dying Light is in development at Dead Island studio Techland in Poland. The open-world game boasts a day-night cycle and will be released on current- and next-generation consoles, as well as the PC, in 2014.

The game will be playable at PAX Prime this weekend in Seattle, Washington.
