BioWare cofounder once stopped employee from flushing fish down the toilet

Ray Muzyka cofounded acclaimed role-playing game studio BioWare, but his achievements at the studio extend beyond just releasing games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age and selling the studio to Electronic Arts in a deal worth $860 million. He actually saved a life while working there.

A new profile of Muzyka posted on the University of Alberta's website reveals that Muzyka, a pescetarian, once stopped a BioWare employee from flushing loaches down the toilet. But that's not all. Not only did he save the fish, but he kept them alive in his office for 15 years. As the University of Alberta points out, this is well beyond their normal five-year lifespan.

Muzyka and fellow BioWare cofounder Greg Zeschuk, both of whom are medical doctors, left the company in 2012. Muzyka is now involved with various social awareness initiatives, while Zeschuk has launched a craft beer web series called The Beer Diaries.

Muzyka and Zeschuk received lifetime achievement awards for their contributions to the video game industry last year as part of the 2013 Game Developers Conference.
