Bungie teaser hints at Monday Destiny reveal

Cryptic webpage suggests studio will reveal new universe with Activision next week.

Bungie has launched a new teaser webpage hinting that the studio will reveal its all-new universe--rumored to be titled Destiny--on Monday, February 18.

An alternate-reality game has been uploaded to alphalupi.bungie.net, which calls on users to interact with a series of objects to reveal cryptic images and lines of text.

Of note, Alpha Lupi is the brightest star within the Lupus constellation. Lupus is Latin for wolf.

The text on the teaser page reads:

Our sky is filled with unseen signals. Radio-frequency emissions pulse and flit and dance all around us. Yet even a singing patch of sky can be observed, and transformed into a range of frequencies.

Can you hear it? No, not yet. It has not yet arrived. But together we can receive its call.

Imagine combining the observations of thousands across the globe on an object meandering through the heavens. The resulting array would be quite large. Quite powerful. This is your task.

Alone it will not be enough. Coordination and timing is needed. Observations must be made simultaneously.

Your window will be small. Five minutes at most. But windows may be reopened. And the distance between observer pairs will be key.

There will always be limitations in clarity, so the results must be archived for study. Highly technical observers may be required. Detailed frequency analysis is recommended.

Everything that belongs to us will be ours, but only if we create the capacity to receive it.

The arrival of the new teaser site follows Bungie's announcement last week that it would reveal Destiny in a "matter of weeks." The developer will discuss this new universe in greater detail during the 2013 Game Developers Conference at the end of March.

Destiny is Bungie's first project as part of a 10-year publishing deal with Call of Duty company Activision. Legal documents from May suggested that the game will be released for the Xbox 360 in 2013, with a 2014 release slated for the PlayStation 3.

The game is reportedly "quite like Halo."
