Death Stranding Walkthrough: Episode 10 – Die-Hardman

After the big bombast of Episode 9, Episode 10 of Death Stranding takes us back to the porter lifestyle we know and love. Well, kind of. Things have gone south in the United Cities of America, and for some reason, we have to make the long trip back to the beginning of the game. This might seem like a huge slog, but we've got some good tips to help make this journey a little more manageable.

Afraid of spoilers? Don't worry! We'll make sure these walkthroughs are as spoiler-free as possible when it comes to the main story beats. But if you're at this point in the game, some things are definitely going to be unavoidable!

The thing to keep in mind is that a big part of Death Stranding is the flexibility of the environment and the creativity of how you want to forge a path forward. There are a whole heap of different ways to tackle each mission, and on top of that, the map you encounter might also be different to the one you see in this guide--that's thanks to the multiplayer aspect of the game, where members of the community will clear different paths and place helpful structures in different ways depending on your personal game.

That said, this walkthrough will give you a good idea about what you need to do. It can offer one viable path to success if you're at a bit of a loss, or if you just want some inspiration to get you started.

Before you start, definitely check out the broader tips in our Death Stranding guide hub to get your head around some must-have tips to always keep in mind, as well as get your head around what you can expect a little later down the line. Things will definitely get a little less tough over time with the right preparation!

Episode 10 - Time To Go Back

Welcome back! Did you think that this game was going to end after all those boss fights in Episode 9? Well, I'm sorry. It looks like our good friend Norman Reedus needs to go all the way back across the country to meet some old friends.

Before you leave, strap on a speed skeleton, bring some anti-BT measures, and some rudimentary climbing hear. Fabricate a vehicle, or grab an existing one. Also bring a few PCCs to build generators--you're going to need to charge a lot of things!

You'll start this episode on the other side of the tar belt, and how you find your back to Lake Knot City is completely up to you.

However, if you think I'm going to let you go through those damn mountains again, you're wrong!

Episode 10 - Hug The Beach

Take a look at the map above. It might not be obvious from a zoomed-out view, but look a little closer, and you'll find that the best way to avoid the mountains is to hug the very bottom of the map.

This path is perfectly traversable--there's a flat beach that goes all the way back to the main part of the Central Region. There's going to be some BTs along the way (including some stronger, gold variants) but it's absolutely nothing that you won't be able to handle, especially after the trials of last episode.

Follow the path marked in yellow, and this will eventually lead you to the Timefall Farm you helped out all those hours ago.

Episode 10 - You Can Do It, Sam!

I definitely recommend trying to use a vehicle to make this process go faster, but sometimes you'll have to ditch it. Maybe you've run out of PCCs to build generators, or maybe you were just too scared of driving head-first into a BT.

The speed skeleton should make this a lot less painful, so long as you have a means to charge it every now again. If you're lucky, you may even stumble upon some abandoned vehicles along the way (thanks, community!)

Either way, trust me when I say this is way better than having to climb another dozen mountains.

Episode 10 - Pit Stop At The Timefall Farm

Once you've run out of beach, and can see the Timefall Farm in the distance, you're basically halfway there!

Consider making a pit stop at the Timefall farm to stock up on more PCCs, charge your vehicle's batteries, or grabbing a new one if you happened to lose a vehicle along the way.

Also consider grabbing some Standard Orders that are on the way--people need their Timefall Porter!

Episode 10 - Getting Through Central

Now, how easy this next part is will depend on how built-up this region is for you--did you spend some time in the previous chapters building roads? If so, it's a no-brainer to tell you to hug those roads and drive a vehicle down them all the way back to Lake Knot City. If not, it's going to be a slightly tougher challenge.

If you don't have a fully completed road, I would recommend grabbing a bike and heading up the left-hand side of the river that runs through this area for most of the trip. The terrain is more manageable than the other side, and you'll eventually get to a point further up where it's much easier to cross the water and continue.

Things to be aware of is driving through MULE territory, obviously, making sure you have some means of charging your bike along the way, and trying to squeeze through gaps in the timefall where possible to avoid BT encounters slowing you down.

Episode 10 - Distribution Centre Pit Stop

The Distribution Centre South of Lake Knot City is an obvious place to take a break, restock supplies, refresh Sam in the private room, and grab a fresh vehicle if you need one.

Episode 10 - Sweet Memories

Obviously, roads are going to make this journey a cinch, and it's nice to be able to take advantage of any hard work you put in earlier in this journey.

That said, compared to all the crap you put up with during the mountain chapters, this terrain should be a complete cakewalk to your regardless, especially since there's no mandatory cargo to haul.

Take this opportunity to reflect on how far you've come since taking your first steps in this majestic land--hey is that a friggen' tornado above Lake Knot City?

BETTER DRIVE STRAIGHT INTO IT!

This, surprisingly, marks the end of Episode 10. Hopefully, that journey was pleasant rather than a super-long slog, and reminded you of the magic that community and helping other people can bring.

We're slowly ramping up to the climax of Death Stranding now, so please join us for the Episode 11 walkthrough, coming soon.
