EB recalls Spartan-branded batteries

The retailer announced a product recall for third-party battery packs for use in Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii controllers, due to a high possibility of fire in defective units.

Australian game retailer EB Games has announced a product recall for Spartan-branded rechargeable batteries for use in Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii controllers.

According to EB's Twitter account, the charging connections in some of the battery packs may have been reversed, leading to a high possibility of fire in the case of a short circuit.

The batteries were sold at EB Games stores around Australia between June 2011 and September 2012.

The retailer advises anyone who thinks they may have purchased any Spartan-branded batteries to immediately stop using them and return the batteries, or any products using the batteries, to an EB Games store for a full refund. No receipt is required.

The official product recall can be found here. More information can be found on the EB Games website.
