Extraction closed beta starts October 1

Splash Damage-developed online shooter formerly known as Dirty Bomb enters beta next month; sign-ups now available.

A closed beta for Splash Damage's free-to-play online shooter Extraction--formerly known as Dirty Bomb--will begin on October 1, the developer has announced.

Those interested in participating in the beta can sign up through the game's website.

Extraction was originally announced as Dirty Bomb in November 2012. Last month, it was announced that Nexon would publish the game and it would be renamed Extraction.

In Extraction, players can choose from dozens of roles with different play styles and abilities, and fight in teams to vanquish enemies by defending or attacking key objectives.

The game is set in an evacuated London, following a "mysterious radiological attack," as squads of mercenaries take to the streets to extract valuable information left behind.

Splash Damage created the stylized shooter Brink and is also currently working on the multiplayer component for Batman: Arkham Origins.
