Grand Theft Auto V to get Crew Hierarchies system

Rockstar Games introduces Crew Hierarchies; system will be utilised in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Rockstar Games has announced a new Hierarchies system to be introduced in Grand Theft Auto V and its multiplayer component, Grand Theft Auto Online.

The Hierarchies feature is currently available at the Rockstar Games Social Club website to Crew Leaders, who are able to assign ranks to members and designate "the responsibilities of crew management", as well as "assuring that loyalty and performance are rewarded appropriately".

At present, Crew Leaders have a choice of four ranks to assign to crew members, including Commissioner, Lieutenant, Representative, and Muscle.

Commissioners are able to exercise the same crew powers as the Crew Leader, and lieutenants are granted "specific privileges to keep the crew in check". Representatives have "basic permissions to aid recruitment efforts", while Muscle serves as the lowest rank, with no administrative power in the crew.

Crew colours have also been introduced into the Social Club, and can be set in crew management. Rockstar Games has teased that crew colours will have "significant prominence in other places yet to be announced".

Grand Theft Auto Online is a multiplayer mode that can be accessed for free by users who purchase Grand Theft Auto V. For more about the game, check out GameSpot's exclusive interview with Rockstar North head Leslie Benzies and preview of the multiplayer component.

Grand Theft Auto V launches September 17 worldwide for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
