Keiji Inafune’s Soul Sacrifice headed to US

Mega Man designer's new PlayStation Vita action game has been confirmed for Western release; more info expected at E3.

Keiji Inafune is making a Soul Sacrifice on the PlayStation Vita for an audience of North American gamers. The former Capcom producer and Mega Man designer confirmed through the PlayStation Blog today that his latest game will be getting a release outside of Japan.

Developed by MarvelousAQL along with Inafune's Comcept, Soul Sacrifice is a fantasy action game built around the idea that great power comes only from great sacrifice. To use powerful magic in battles, players must pay a price, ranging from an item to a limb. However, players can also derive their power by sacrificing others, making them consider exactly what kind of hero they would like to be. One particular sacrifice, "The Excalibur," sees the protagonist pull his own spine out via his mouth, and then wield it as a sword.

Sony has not given any indication as to when Soul Sacrifice will see release. However, more information is expected to be revealed at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Check back with GameSpot throughout the week for more from the show.
