Mad Max Trailer Features Really Weird People From Wasteland Strongholds

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new trailer for its upcoming Mad Max video game, which has been developed by Avalanche Studio, the team behind Just Cause.

The action-packed trailer, which you can watch below, provides a look at the game's Strongholds. These fortified outposts are scattered around the wasteland for the player to find. Strongholds bring with them a number of unique characters and stories.

"In a world where Max faces both his internal and external enemies, these strongholds hold the pieces essential to the puzzle he tries to solve," reads the official press release. "Max will need to make some uneasy alliances as he prepares to take on merciless Wasteland tyrant, Scrotus."

Although it was originally scheduled to launch in 2014, the Mad Max release date was revised and confirmed as September 1.

Interestingly, the game does not tie into the recently released--and critically acclaimed--Mad Max: Fury Road movie. Instead, players are cast as Max and thrown into The Wasteland to embark on a brand new adventure.

With no possessions, Max must first build a car, the Magnum Opus, which can be upgraded and customized. This customization extends to the game's other central gameplay pillar: hand-to-hand combat. As well as these two aspects, armor and weapons are also upgradable.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Mad Max were canceled in March. The game will only be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
