Mighty Meeples – Rounds 4 and 5

I’ve been bitten. I love these tiny wooden heroes and villains. They are 3 to a pack, 3$ per pack, I’ve been buying 2 or 3 packs per week (I’m calling purchases for a week a round) for the last several weeks.  But round 4 was not kind to the collector in me.

Round 4. Out of 6 pieces, I only got 1 new character, Cheetah. That is the thing with blind bagged items. Even items at higher rarities can be duplicates. Here the case was Mr. Freeze.

But Round 5 was better, much better.

Round 5. New: Batman, Martian Manhunter, Sinestro. I also got my second Batman. But that doesn’t matter. I finally got Batman. And 2 other new pieces. Psyched about collecting these again.

Tally update.  23 unique characters (out of 30).  13 duplicates including 2 duplicates each of Green Lantern, Harley Quinn, Superman, Wonder Woman.  The question is, at this point, should I continue?  Statistically, my future pulls should be more like round 4 with only 1 new – or even zero new – than round 5 where I got 3 new.

Using the handy checklist provided in every  pack, I checked off what I had.  Its now easy to see that there are 3 commons, 2 uncommons and 2 rares left for a total of 7.

  • C Joker
  • C Aquaman
  • C Black Manta
  • U the Penguin
  • U Deadshot
  • R Killer Croc
  • R Hawkman

So far, I’ve been able to give away or repurpose about half of my duplicates, so the pile is smaller than my actual results.

So my answer is yes, there will be another round of purchases. The fact that there are 3 commons left, two of which are a classic match up from the Super Friends, is enough of a reason to keep going. (The two ? shadowed out characters are Bizarro and Batgirl).
