Naughty Dog asked Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg to write Uncharted movie

Superbad writers say developer has "constantly" asked them to make Uncharted film for the past four years.

Naughty Dog is eager to make the Uncharted movie with Superbad and Pineapple Express writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, according to the pair.

Speaking with IGN during an interview for his latest movie, This Is the End, Rogen said, "They're constantly asking me and Evan to make the Uncharted movie."

Goldberg added that Naughty Dog has contacted the longtime collaborators on multiple occasions over the past four years, but they have repeatedly turned down the job because they are unsure how to best adapt the game for the big screen.

"It's just going to be Indiana Jones," Goldberg said. "If we could figure out a way to make it not Indiana Jones, it'd be awesome."

The Uncharted movie has been in the works for years. At one point, The Fighter director David O. Russell was set to direct the film starring Mark Wahlberg as Drake and either Scarlett Johansson or Amy Adams as Elena. Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci were also reportedly involved, cast as Drake's father and uncle, respectively.

Russell dropped out of the film in May 2011, citing "creative differences" with Sony. Limitless director Neil Burger took up the director's chair just months later, but left the project a year later.

The current status of the film is unknown.
