New Alien Movie Concept Art Features Sigourney Weaver as Ripley

Director Neill Blomkamp has shared some new concept art for his upcoming Alien movie.

The writer-director, known best for District 9 and to gamers for the failed Halo movie, published the image you see below by way of his Instagram account. The art shows Sigourney Weaver, who will apparently reprise her role as Ellen Ripley. Also shown is a roughed-up Michael Biehn as Corporal Hicks.

"Alien going very well," he wrote in the caption. "Love this project."

Ridley Scott, who directed 1979's Alien and the 2012 kinda-prequel Prometheus, is attached to Blomkamp's new Alien as a producer.

"One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it," Blomkamp said in a May 2015 interview with Empire. "He likes the idea of what I want to make."

With no footage or real story details to go on, it's still early days for the new Alien, which Fox has tentatively scheduled for a 2017 release.

The most recent game based on the sci-fi series was last year's Alien: Isolation. The game sold more than 2 million copies, and developer The Creative Assembly has ideas for a sequel.
