New Song: Avril Lavigne, ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up’

Avril Lavigne isn't quite ready to be an adult on "Here's To Never Growing Up."

It's not exactly news that Avril Lavigne hasn't changed much since her "Complicated" days (though she did trade in the ties for a big ol' engagement ring). We're all for "Peter Pan-ing" around here, which is why we strongly commend Avril for writing "Here's To Never Growing Up," a song about eschewing maturity and (we assume) holding fast to multicolored hair, spiked shoes, and wife-beaters worn with pink bra straps.

Listen to Avril Lavigne's "Here's To Never Growing Up" after the jump.

The first single from her as-yet-untitled fifth album, "Here's To Never Growing Up" features the pop rocker singing about basking in the glow of youth (and she probably doesn't mean by using copious amounts of Botox -- no judgements!). Sonically, the record is classic Avril, laden with a loud, shouty chorus and a verse that's probably now gonna be stuck in your head until your next birthday -- the irony of which is not lost on us. Avril sings: "Call up all our friends/ Go hard this weekend/ For no damn reason/ I don't think we'll ever change.../Singing here's to never growing up." We totally echo Avril's sentiment (who doesn't love raging for no damn reason?), although we are DEFINITELY glad to have grown out of our teenage tall and gangly phase. Think Avril would be offended if we amended her title to "Here's To Never Growing Up After You Hit Your Physical Peak"?
