Few things make us happier than a new Fiona Apple song. Girl hasn't dropped an album in seven years, so we're already sore from smiling about this one. After releasing the wispy, whispery "Every Single Night," "Werewolf" finds Apple returning to the piano and delivering an emotive ballad both gentle and wailing. "You were such a super guy, till the second you get away from me," Apple sings, but the mature track embraces the sad stuff as the flip side of romance: "Nothing wrong when a song is in a minor key," she concludes. The straightforward song surprises with a freaky screaming sample that Apple field-recorded herself: "I heard all these kids screaming -- there's an elementary school across from my house in L.A. I was like, 'Oh s***, that's it,'" she told Pitchfork. We'd totally be screaming if we were across the street from Fiona Apple, too, obvi. Can't wait to see what other surprises she has up her sleeves.
