New Song: Holy Ghost!, ‘Teenagers In Heat’

Holy Ghost! warm up the NYC streets on "Teenagers In Heat."

Miley Cyrus might have claimed the "Song Of Summer" prize with her visually bizarre ode to youth, "We Can't Stop," but NYC synthpop duo Holy Ghost! are well on their way to snagging second place on their bouncy new track, "Teenagers In Heat." (Does that include twerking?) Plus, it always helps when you've got DFA head honcho and former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy manning the production boards. Seriously, though, can we get a "Song Of Summer" recount?

Listen to Holy Ghost!'s "Teenagers In Heat" after the jump.

Co-produced by Mr. Murphy himself, "Teenagers In Heat" fades in with slow, echoing synths before clicking into gear with a fast-paced, jittery pop hook reminiscent of early Robert Palmer (what's up, "Looking For Clues"??). Meanwhile, Holy Ghost!'s Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel ruminate over what it's like to wander through NYC's steamy (literally and figuratively) summer sidewalks. Just think of all those baking adolescent pheromones! De-licious.

Holy Ghost!'s warm-weather anthem might not make it on to their forthcoming Dynamics album, out Sept. 10, but it will be released digitally and as a 7-inch on vinyl. (Just think of it as a little pre-fall palette cleanser before your annual end-of-summer party.)
