New Song: Jay-Z, ‘Open Letter’

Jay-Z teams up with Timbaland and Swizz Beatz in "Open Letter."

The only thing better than a new Jay-Z track would be, like, if Jay and Beyoncé decided to try for Blue Ivy No. 2! And since that's not currently on deck (mama's gotta tour!!), we will GLADLY take this new Jay-Z track, "Open Letter," as our consolation prize until Blue Ivy gets a new sister or brother. (Clearly we're talking about this like we have ANY say in the matter.)

Listen to Jay-Z's "Open Letter" after the jump.

Produced by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, "Open Letter" features a vaguely pissed sounding Jay spitting about a variety of topics, including his controversial anniversary trip to Cuba with Bey: "I done turned Havana to Atlanta." Jay also rhymes about his stake in the Brooklyn Nets ("I still own the building, I’m still keeping my seats"), as well as general message of "step the eff back" to all the haterz: "We almost wanna start a revolution/ You know whenever I’m threatened, I start shootin'."

If you, like us, are wondering how this record came together, then here's the 411. According to Swizz: "[Beyoncé] came in the studio and Just Blaze came in the studio and this thing just extended to another level. The whole thing started with me making a track in Jay's office, and it just led to 'Open Letter' and people learning about things today." Yeahhhhhh, so the only thing I've ever made in my office is a Cup O' Noodles. Stars: they are absolutely NOTHING like us.
