Ninja Gaiden 3 boosts Tecmo Koei’s fiscal year earnings

Latest entry in hardcore action game series sees nearly 11 percent increase in company earnings.

While Ninja Gaiden 3 wasn't critically received in the most positive light, it didn't stop Tecmo Koei from making decent profits from the game. According to the company's fiscal 2012 earnings report released recently (via Andriasang), Tecmo Koei's sales increased to 10.7 percent from the previous fiscal year to 35,525 million yen. The company's operating earnings rose to 56.1 percent to 7,472 million yen, while its net earnings increased by 69.3 percent to 4,640 million yen.

The reason for this increase was due to strong sales of Ninja Gaiden 3. The game shipped 630,000 units throughout the world. The company also got its revenue from repeated orders of backlog titles like Dynasty Gundam 3, as well as from royalties for games like One Piece: Kaizoku Musou and Pokemon Conquest. For more information on its earnings, check out the company's official statement here.

Ninja Gaiden 3 was released last March. The game was praised for its flashy swordplay but was panned for its shallow action. For more information, check out GameSpot's review of the game below.
