Sons of Anarchy game ‘dead’

Show creator Kurt Sutter says after "no interest" from industry and "little support" from Fox, he is no longer pursuing tie-in.

The Sons of Anarchy game has screeched to a halt. Show creator Kurt Sutter said on Twitter today that he is no longer trying to bring a game based on the FX biker drama to market.

"I'm done," he said. "No interest from industry, little support from Fox. It B dead."

Just yesterday, Sutter reached out to Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption studio Rockstar Games to see if the company was interested in making the Sons of Anarchy game. Sutter asked the company to call him regarding a potential partnership, though it is not clear if any discussion between the two parties ever took place.

The Sons of Anarchy game has gone from new idea to its grave in just nine months. Sutter first teased a tie-in in February, when he stated a browser-based game was possible. Then in May, he confirmed larger plans for the game after meeting with a mystery distributor, saying the project would be a "real" title for consoles that may take a while to create.

Less encouraging news on the Sons of Anarchy game came in August, when Sutter claimed a major publisher dismissed the project, and added that the game may never come to market.

Sons of Anarchy is an FX television show in its fifth season that focuses on a closely knit group of motorcycle outlaws. It is set in the fictional town of Charming, California, and stars Charlie Hunnam (Green Street Hooligans) as the show's protagonist Jackson "Jax" Teller. Sons of Anarchy also features Katey Sagal (Married with Children, Futurama) and Ron Perlman (Fallout: New Vegas, Hellboy).
