Steam Summer Sale goes live

Annual promotion slashes prices on Modern Warfare 3, Portal 2, Spec Ops: The Line, several package deals.

The Steam Summer Sale is on, and with it come significant markdowns on PC games large and small, new and old. The sale offers deals on different sets of individual games daily until July 22, publisher packages until July 23, and "flash sale" discounts, which are good for 12 hours or less.

Some highlights from the discounts available today include Portal 2 for $5 (was $20) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for $30 (was $60). Gamers interested in $50 package deals can find Spec Ops: The Line and The Darkness II among others in the 2K Collection. Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Just Cause 2, as well as several Hitman and Tomb Raider titles, are on sale in the Square Enix Collection, and many other packages are available.

The promotion's current flash sales include Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $7.50 (was $30), ending at 4 p.m. PST, and Rayman Origins for $15 (was $30), ending at 10 p.m. PST. Gaming documentary Indie Game: The Movie is also available for $5 (was $10) for the duration of the Summer Sale.
