The Buzz On: Rizzle Kicks

Don't sleep on Rizzle Kicks, guys.

Jigga what? Rizzle who? That's precisely what we thought when we first heard about Rizzle Kicks, the English hip-hop duo from Brighton. Honestly, it's like what the hell is a Rizzle and why exactly do they have to kick it? Answers to these questions still remain a bit hazy, but do we care? Absolutely not, because the men of Rizzle Kicks have us hooked with their Brit-hop sound. Oh, and did we mention they're attractive? And only 20? Have at 'em, ladies.

Known to their moms as Jordan "Rizzle" Stephens and Harley "Sylvester" Alexander-Sule, the lads (catch us tryna sound British right there?) of Rizzle Kicks have been in a full-on bromance ever since they both attended the famed BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology. As the story goes, back in 2008, Jordan was making a mixtape and asked his pal Harley to sing on some of the tracks. Once they realized they were better off as a duo, the boys recorded a few demos, posted a few YouTube videos, and the rest, as they say, is a big fat recording contract and a shiny platinum record. Right, we may have failed to mention that Rizzle Kicks' debut disc Stereo Typical just went platinum overseas. Balling out.

Rizzle Kicks' lighthearted, laidback jumble of a sound that references everyone from Gorillaz and Chiddy Bang to  The Streets and Tinie Tempah, has won them scores of devotees, some of which include really famous people like Ed Sheeran, who is a proud Rizzle Kicks convert. (Also please refer to THIS, immediately.) If you're looking for hard numbers, we've got those too: The boys' cheeky first single, "Down With The Trumpets," peaked at No. 8 on the U.K. charts, "Heart Skips A Beat," their collaboration with Olly Murs, landed firmly at No. 1, and their Fatboy Slim-produced single "Mama Do The Hump" went to No. 2. Oh, and speaking of the "Hump," that's an actual thing that Rizzle Kicks created. Watch and learn, America. WATCH AND LEARN.
