Spider-Man began a worldwide search for a cure for his debilitating disease in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #2, and used Dr. Doom’s time machine to visit loved ones from his past in MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #20. In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #526, his old foe Morlun attacked and gouged out one of his eyes. This sent Spidey to the hospital in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #3 where he recovered just enough to kill Morlun and then die himself.

What is Marvel Unlimited?

The webslinger’s corpse disappeared in MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #21, and Peter Parker entered a strange dream world in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #527, only to be reborn from a cocoon in Avengers Tower. Tony Stark wanted to know how and why it occurred in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #4, and Spidey demonstrated new powers in MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #22. Later, he asked a tailor to make him a new costume while Stark began designing one himself in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #528.

Spidey met a hero from another dimension and fought Dr. Octopus with him in MARVEL TEAM-UP #14, as well as teamed up with other heroes to fight a new menace called Chronok in MARVEL TEAM-UP #15. The wallcrawler discovered Ronin to be Echo in NEW AVENGERS #13, and joined his teammates to go public as Avengers in NEW AVENGERS #14 and NEW AVENGERS #15. A woman became convinced of Spidey’s “obsession” with her in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #5, and J. Jonah Jameson pitted Mexican wrestlers against his old nemesis in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #6 and FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #7.

Unsure of his new powers, the wallcrawler witnessed certain people freaking out around him in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #23, discovered the new Lizard to be Curt Connors’ son Billy in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #24, fought the original Lizard in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #25, tracked down Man-Wolf and Vermin in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #26, and teamed with the Black Cat and Puma to take down Stegron the Dinosaur Man in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #27.

The Avengers fought an alien that decimated Alpha Flight in NEW AVENGERS #17, went up against a man who’d absorbed all the lost mutant powers in NEW AVENGERS #18, battled the Collective in NEW AVENGERS #19, and dealt with a possessed Magneto in NEW AVENGERS #20. An alternate universe Uncle Ben appeared in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #8 while Spidey clashed with a new female Hobgoblin from the future in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #9, and said goodbye to Ben in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #10.

The webslinger met new hero Freedom Ring in MARVEL TEAM-UP #21, helped Wolverine face down the Iron Maniac in MARVEL TEAM-UP #23, witnessed Freedom Ring’s death in MARVEL TEAM-UP #24, and fought alongside a bevy of champions versus Titannus in MARVEL TEAM-UP #25.

Tony Stark gifted Spidey with a new suit and asked him to be his protégé in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #529, as well as accompany him to Washington D.C. for a Senate hearing on superhuman registration in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #530. Stark set up a fight with the Titanium Man to get Peter to testify himself in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #531, and when news of the deaths of hundreds of people in CIVIL WAR #1 came through, he pushed the Senate to support the registration of superhumans and asked Peter to publicly reveal his identity in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #532.

Captain America disagreed with the registration and began forming a resistance movement toward it in NEW AVENGERS #21 while Spider-Man revealed his secret on national TV in CIVIL WAR #2. Peter dealt with the fallout in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #533 and joined a group to hunt down rogue heroes, which led to him battling Cap himself in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #534. Peter’s students rolled with the Spider-Man news in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #28 while the wallcrawler clashed with multiple Mysterios in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #11, FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #12, and FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #13.

The X-Men announced their neutrality in CIVIL WAR #3, but the Chameleon announced his intentions toward Peter Parker in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #29, leading to an all-out super villain attack on the hero in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #30 and SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #31. Many costumed champions questioned their own decisions after a clone of Thor killed Goliath in CIVIL WAR #4, and Spider-Man also asked the same question after a visit to Iron Man’s Negative Zone prison for unregistered individuals in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #535. When Stark subsequently turned on him, Peter went on national TV once again to say he’d made a big mistake in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #536.

What is Marvel Unlimited?

The Thunderbolts tracked down Spidey under orders from Stark in CIVIL WAR #5, prompting the Punisher to rescue him and deliver him to Cap’s team. In CIVIL WAR #6, all the rogue heroes still free invaded the Negative Zone prison, setting up a huge battle between Team Iron Man and Team Cap.
