Corporate vice president Marc Whitten confirms next-generation console will not capture game footage at full high-definition.

The Xbox One's game DVR functionality will not capture footage at full 1080p resolution, but rather 720p at 30 frames-per-second.

"Game DVR captures beautiful clips at 720p 30fps," Xbox corporate vice president Marc Whitten told IGN.

Xbox One launch game Forza Motorsport 5, as one example, will run in 1080p at 60 frames-per-second, meaning gamers will notice a dip in quality of recorded content.

As revealed last month, the Xbox One will record the last five minutes of gameplay. Gamers can say "Xbox Record" at any time to begin recording content at any point.

Players can then edit their video and spruce it up with voice-over and even picture-in-picture through the Kinect. Videos can then be shared through social networks. The Xbox One also supports external video capture devices.

The PlayStation 4 also boasts a similar gameplay recording feature, though Sony has yet to give specific details about capture quality. Both systems launch this holiday season.
