F1 2013 drops online pass requirement

This year's sim racer will not require customers who purchased the game preowned to pay to play online.

Codemasters has announced it will not be using an online pass for upcoming sim racer F1 2013.

In a statement to GameSpot, a Codemasters representative said "we have taken the decision not to include a VIP Pass activation system in either F1 2013 and F1 2013: Classic Edition"

"Players will not be required to activate multiplayer functionality via a VIP Pass code and we have no plans to replace the pass with an alternative paid-for activation system in the game when it launches this October.’

Codemasters added online passes to their games in 2011, although the move to charge for online play to people who purchase the game preowned has become less popular in recent months. EA, which introduced the concept, said it will now not be using it in any of their titles.

F1 2013 will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 8.

Microsoft reveals Realtime Worlds' open-world game free beginning tomorrow, while Dead Rising 2 and Case Zero free starting August 15.

Crackdown, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers in August, Microsoft announced today.

Beginning tomorrow, gamers can grab Realtime Worlds' 2007 open-world game Crackdown--normally $10--for free through August 15.

Starting August 15, subscribers can pick up both Dead Rising 2 (normally $15) and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (normally $5) for free.

The free games are part of Microsoft's new Games With Gold program that gives Xbox Live Gold subscribers two free titles--to keep--each month until December 31.

Listen To A Preview Of Ariana Grande’s ‘Piano’
Listen to a preview of Ariana Grande's summery pop jam "Piano." Up until very recently, we felt like Ariana Grande was "quietly" slaying the pop music game with smashes like the Mac Miller-assisted "The Way" and its follow-up single, "Baby I." Yeah, well, it might be time to replace "quietly" with "VERY LOUDLY," because Ariana has [...]

Guacamelee! Gold coming to PC next week

PC version of Guacamelee! to arrive on Steam with cloud saves, trading cards, and custom costume creation.

Well-received action platformer Guacamelee! will be released next week on PC, DrinkBox Studios has announced.

The game will be available as the Guacamelee! Gold Edition, and will feature the two currently available DLC packs--the costume pack and The Devil’s Playground level--along with Steam trading card support, cloud saves, and Big Picture mode.

Players will also be able to create their custom luchador costume and share it over Steam Workshop, adds the developer.

Guacamelee! Gold will be sold from August 8 for $14.99/£11.99/€13.99, with 10 percent off in its first week. Anyone who purchases the game in its first week will also receive a free Steam copy of DrinkBox Studios' previous title, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack.

GameSpot awarded the PlayStation Network version of Guacamelee! a score of 9.0 back in April. "Guacamelee! is so full of personality and challenging gameplay that it's a shame it ever has to end," said reviewer Peter Brown.
