Halo: Master Chief Collection Reevaluating Need for Content Update Beta
2795624-5222008472-26227.jpg

A couple of weeks ago, 343 Industries said it planned to group-test a major Master Chief Collection patch with a closed beta, as part of a wider effort to resolve the game’s online problems that have dragged on since its release in November. That beta was postponed last minute, and yesterday 343 announced that it's reevaluating that beta.

343 said that next content update, which will focus on fundamental improvements matchmaking search time, match search success, and lobby / party functionality, will improve the overall experience, while also allowing the team to address additional issues such as title-specific hit registration, matchmaking ranking, and more.

"As this update contains the biggest changes to the Matchmaking system yet, we’ve identified that additional time and testing is required, and we are currently evaluating both timing and need for a CU beta with the Xbox One Preview program, as well as the final public release date in February," 343 Industries said. "We’ll continue to provide the latest updates here on Waypoint."

343 said that it also continues to work on playlists, with Team Snipers and an objective only playlist coming soon. Team Doubles, which many players are asking for, is still "on hold" until 343 resolves some team creation issues in future content updates.

Nintendo Roots For Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl With Mario Kart 8

It looks like Nintendo of America, which is headquartered right outside of Seattle, Washington, is rooting for its home team in the Super Bowl today.

Yesterday, the company's verified Twitter account tweeted Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch, saying "Hey @MoneyLynch! We heard you like Toad, so we used #MK8 to run a simulation of Sunday’s game," and attached the following .gif, in which Toad nails a Mii version New England Patriots tight end Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski with a red shell.

The tweet is referencing Lynch's recent appearance on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show, where he played a few rounds of Mortal Kombat X against Gronkowski. During the segment, Lynch revealed that he usually likes to play Mario Kart, and that Toad is his favorite driver.

Lynch, in case you're wondering, also won more rounds of Mortal Kombat X.

Super Bowl XLIX between the Seattle Seahawks and The New England Patriots kicks off today, 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
