AFi’s “Ask Matty” Mattel Q&A Answers for June 15th, 2012 (And a new product video!)

Twice a month the gang from Mattel are kind enough to answer five questions from AFi readers.  The Mattel marketing and PR team, have replied with the answers to our latest round of questions that AFi readers have posted in our forums.

If you have Mattel  questions make sure to post them in the thread for the next round.

But before we get to the Q&A, yesterday Mattel and Scott posted another video showing off Griffin and Snake-Man-At-Arms since Mattel was not able to send out any review samples for those two items.  He also shows off the completed Collect and Connect “Dark Knight Rises’ Bat-signal.

Now, let’s get to the questions and the answers!

Q1. Has Monster High ever been considered for MattyCollector offerings? I would think that the site would be a great way to release more of the male characters and school faculty in numbers that could satisfy collectors without the danger of clogging retail shelves with less-desirable-to-kids characters.

A1. While we are all fans of MH, nothing is planned for Mattycollector.com at this time.

Q2.  The SDCC 2011 Mattel/DC panel showed a pic of a Hawkman for the Fisher Price Hero World line in the slideshow. When will this be released, or are there no plans to release it?

A2.  At this time there are no plans for a release but we are always looking into it.

Q3.  There’s some confusion on the last set of announced DCUC/DC All Star 2-packs that were announced at comic con “War of the Green Lanterns” Blue Kyle/Yellow Hal (http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery2/album/TF2012-Mattel-DC-Comics-Showroom/1329163059-76.php) and “Knightfall” Red Az-Bats and Battle-damaged Batman (http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery2/album/TF2012-Mattel-DC-Comics-Showroom/1329163059-74.php).   When asked last 2 Q&A’s back we were told these had been manufactured and were shipped to TRU and were working their way through the system.   Then the last Q&A for another site you (or the new retail team) said “There are no current plans for the 2-packs, but we will always continue to explore ways of producing the most compelling collector offerings. Thank you.” (http://www.toyark.com/news/toyark-spotlight-48/mattycollector-2012-qa-answers-may-15-5778/)  Now, word is coming out that these have hit Canadian TRU’s.   Can you help settle the answer for this?  Were these made?  And are they shipping to US stores?

A3.  Yep, we can confirm that these were produced so you should be finding them shortly.

Q4.  For the Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters line, will characters like Alfred and Catwoman who are currently one per case see wider release in later case pack-outs? Word is Target ordered cases WITHOUT Alfred in them.  How will we build our Batsignal if we can’t find all the characters in stores?

A4.  Alfred and Catwoman will be distributed to all, but we can’t control who orders what mixes, so you might need to hunt a little in order to complete the collection.

Q5.  Can you find another alternative to Digital River for MattyCollector? If you do, I’ll subscribe again next year, if not, I won’t. They’re that bad.  Are you guys still looking for alternatives?  Is there no one else that can do this sort of thing at this volume and ship internationally?

A5.  We have a new US based Customer Service group that has been really helping customers out. Digital River is still our ongoing partner.

If you’d like to ask a question for the  June 1st submission then feel free to post your questions in our Mattel Q&A question submissions thread!   Remember they can be about any Mattel product including MOTUC, Ghostbusters, WWE any of the Mattel DC lines, Voltron and Cars. Twice a month we draw our submission question directly from the ones that AFi readers post.

You can submit new questions in this thread.

You can find our past Q&A’s here.  And you can discuss the answers on our Mattel board.

Thanks again to the team at Mattel for taking time to answer our questions!
