New kart racer coming to Wii U with 3D courses, motorcycles, underwater racing, online multiplayer, and Miiverse early next year.

Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U will launch during spring 2014, Nintendo announced today.

The game features 3D courses, motorcycles, underwater racing, online multiplayer, and Miiverse support.

A number of characters were shown in a debut trailer for the game, including franchise mainstays like Mario, Yoshi, Peach, and Toad.
