EA still has faith in Dead Space

Labels president Frank Gibeau says franchise is "something that we're very proud of."

Just because Dead Space 3 failed to meet commercial expectations for Electronic Arts, that doesn't mean the franchise is going away for good.

"No, it's not out of rotation," EA Labels president Frank Gibeau told CVG when asked about the future of the action horror series.

"I mean, I'm not announcing anything right now, but I will say we had a great trilogy of games and we still have faith in that franchise," he added.

Gibeau said the Dead Space series is "something that we're really proud of," but declined to give specifics about the future of the brand.

What could spell trouble for the Dead Space franchise going forward are issues of resource, Gibeau said, noting the publisher only has "a certain number of teams" at its disposal.

"The worst thing you can do as a company is try too many things at once," he said.

Dead Space 3 sold 605,000 copies in the United States during its February launch month, according to data from the NPD Group.

A new Dead Space game is not currently in development at Visceral Games. That studio is currently working on an all-new Star Wars game.
