All Evolve DLC Maps Will Be Free, Dev Says

Evolve, the cooperative monster hunting first-person shooter, will give away all of it's DLC maps for free, developer Turtle Rock Studios has announced.

Creative Director Phil Robb said that after launch, Turtle Rock will continue to support the game with new monsters, hunters and maps, but that maps will be free so as not to divide players and lock them out of matches.

"One of the things we've been really careful about is that for our DLC plans, we've approached it as consumers, what [Design Director Chris Ashton] and I feel good about as consumers," Robb told IGN in an interview. "The first thing we said is we can't break the community up. All of our maps will be free, we never want anyone to get booted off a server because they haven't bought something. That sucks."

Robb also said that even if you don't buy new monsters and hunters, you'll be able to play against them, and that if you preorder the game, you'll get the first monster DLC for free.

Evolve was originally targeted to launch this year, but was delayed to February 10, 2015. Turtle Rock previously created the Left 4 Dead series.
