An Open Letter To Lady Gaga About Her ‘Pop Singers Don’t Eat’ Tweet

According to Lady Gaga, "pop singers don't eat."

Yo Lady Gaga,

Ask anyone who knows me IRL or online and they can tell you that I'm a huge Gaga Stan. 100 percent of the time, I think you do no wrong. But Ima have to scale that back to a 99 percent now -- totes sad about a tweet you sent out to your more than 22 million followers.

On Wednesday you tweeted, "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay." And I totally frowned! Just like a BFF would (because we're imaginary BFFs in my head), I feel like I need to call you on your bulls***. Tweeting about not eating is like, maybe the worst.

I totally get that it was (probably) mostly a joke, and that you actually do eat food items from time to time, but so many young dudes and dudettes turn to your Twitter page for inspiration and encouragement. And the thing about it is, you've accepted that role model position with open arms. You created an entire army of young fans who you go to bat for every day. You've done super great things with your Born This Way Foundation, and your music alone has likely helped millions of kids off of the ledge, both literally and figuratively. By you even joking about the fact that "pop singers don't eat," you're sending a totally bummer message to some really vulnerable kids.

Hey, it's a free country, and you are an artist, a musician and a lady in the public eye. Your aesthetic has helped make you who you are. You're free to look any way you choose, and really, what it takes to get you looking that way is your business. But maybe don't promote not eating? Because let's be honest -- we've seen you get down (literally) with a hot dog. And clearly the couple hundred calories didn't hold you back from becoming THE MOST FAMOUS WOMAN EVER.

Have your burger, Gaga. You just took two spin classes back-to-back -- chow down.

Love and carbs,
