Prime Day 2022 kicks off on July 12, and we’re expecting to see a bunch of great Switch games go on sale during the event. We probably won’t know exactly which games will be discounted until the day of the event, but Switch Prime Day 2022 deals are sure to encapsulate some of today’s hottest titles, including Switch exclusives. In the weeks leading up to Prime Day, Amazon is already slashing prices on some of the best Switch games. This includes big names such as Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, but also smaller gems such as Cadence of Hyrule. Other retailers are joining in on the deals, too, and if they’ve managed to beat Amazon’s low prices, we’ve listed them below. More early Prime Day deals We’re expecting to see another slew of great deals during this year’s Prime Day. Games will be the big-ticket item, but don’t be surprised to see a variety of gaming accessories listed at a discount as well. Amazon is also giving away a bunch of free games in the weeks leading up to Prime Day, and the giveaways will only continue to get better on July 12. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
$50 ($60) Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still one of the most played Nintendo Switch games around. Anyone who picks up a Switch should consider snagging it. Constant updates have only improved the experience since launch, and players checking it out for the first time will be treated to an overwhelming amount of content as they renovate their desolate island.
Bravely Default II
$42 ($60) Bravely Default II offers one of the most compelling turn-based combat systems in the genre, with plenty of jobs to unlock and a “risk-reward” element that makes each encounter exciting. There’s also a bold new graphic style and plenty of smaller side quests that deliver remarkably emotional storylines.
Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer
$17 ($25) Save Hyrule to the beat of the music. Every movement and attack needs to stay on beat to the pulsing soundtrack, making this as much a rhythm game as it is an action game. Aside from its unique premise, Cadence of Hyrule offers adorable pixel art graphics, a catchy soundtrack, and plenty of secrets to unlock during subsequent playthroughs.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
$42 ($60) Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is one of the many enhanced Wii U ports that gained new life on Switch. It's a traditional side-scrolling DK adventure, and it's one of the most challenging Nintendo-published games on the platform. If you find Kirby and Mario games to be a tad too easy at times, Tropical Freeze is a great choice.
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
$20 ($40) The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles compiles two Nintendo 3DS games that originally only released in Japan. The games are set in Japan at the end of the 19th century, long before the other Phoenix Wright and Ace Attorney games. Despite the drastic time period change, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles still has the compelling courtroom gameplay fans know and love. This deal applies to the digital version, but you can also get the physical version at a big discount.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
$45 ($60) Age of Calamity takes the fast-paced musou action of its predecessor and takes it one step further. Not only do you have a new cast of characters to play as, but its story serves as a prequel to Breath of the Wild--revealing the events of the Great Calamity that brought chaos to Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
$40 ($60) Breath of the Wild 2 is slated to arrive next year, so anyone yet to check out this open-world epic still has some time to catch up on Link’s latest journey. Gorgeous graphics, methodical combat, and hundreds of side quests are only the tip of the iceberg here. Breath of the Wild is arguably still the best Nintendo Switch game, and that's quite impressive considering it was a launch title. Breath of the Wild is so good that you might even want to play the story again and go for 100% completion. That could help pass the time before its sequel releases, at least.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
$42 ($60) The remake of the first handheld Zelda adventure offers a striking new art style. Aside from that massive change, most of the game is largely intact--including its free-form sense of adventure and lack of hand-holding. There’s also a new Chamber Dungeon that lets you build your own dungeon and earn some powerful rewards, and there are. more collectibles to find this time around. This deal specifically applies to the digital edition, but you can also grab a physical edition for $50.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
$45 ($60) The Skywalker Saga makes some big changes to the standard Lego formula, although the most notable is its new camera angle--which is placed behind the character like a more traditional third-person adventure game. There’s also a gigantic roster of 300+ playable characters, along with storylines from the original Skywalker saga that’ll take you to numerous iconic planets.
Monster Hunter Rise
$34 ($60) Capcom took a few gambles with Rise, but they all paid off. For one, there’s a new Wirebug mechanic that lets you tie down enemies or quickly achieve verticality not seen in past installments. Then there’s your trusty Palamute, a mount that helps zip across maps in record time. And when you’re not on a traditional hunt, you can check out Rampage quests that mix in tower-defense elements for some of the most chaotic battles in Monster Hunter history.
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
$44 ($60) Super Mario Odyssey might grab most of the attention on Switch, but one of Mario’s 2D outings on Switch is almost as exciting. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has multiple playable characters, four-player co-op, and two distinct Super Mario side-scrolling games in one package. You can also check out Boost Rush, Challenges, and Coin Battle if you get tired of working through its main story.
Paper Mario: The Origami King
$42 ($60) Paper Mario: The Origami King is set in world where Mario and pals sadly get turned into paper by King Olly, the leader of the Folded Soldiers. The Origami King has pretty big open areas and unique turn-based combat that takes place in a ring. The combat scenarios are essentially like little puzzles, which makes The Origami King a fresh experience for fans of the series.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
$42 ($60) Pikmin 3 Deluxe is an enhanced port of the Wii U's beloved strategy game. While Pikmin has never been as popular as some other Nintendo-exclusive franchises, it's always been a real gem. Pikmin 3 Deluxe has brilliantly designed levels that feature a blend of real-time strategy and puzzle gameplay. Pikmin 3 Deluxe also adds a brand-new epilogue featuring characters from the first two games.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
$52 ($60) Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the first big reimagining of the series in years. You’ll be able to capture Pokemon without entering turn-based battles, explore a sprawling world using different monsters as modes of transportation, and slowly piece together the world’s first Pokedex.
Pokemon Sword
$51 ($60) This is a more traditional Pokemon adventure than Legends: Arceus, as you’ll go up against Gym Leaders, build a large roster of monsters, and hone their abilities as you trek across the Galar region. Oddly enough, Pokemon Sword is seeing a more generous discount than its sibling, Pokemon Shield, which is only discounted by a few bucks.
Shin Megami Tensei V
$40 ($60) This popular JRPG tasks you with exploring a post-apocalyptic Tokyo as you fight through its demon-infested streets. Its story is just as wild as past entries, although a switch to Unreal Engine 4 makes the game look incredibly fresh on Nintendo’s hybrid handheld.
Super Mario Maker 2
$42 ($60) Super Mario Maker 2 lets you make your own Mario side-scrolling levels, either by yourself or alongside a friend. You can make classic 8-bit levels or colorful stages resembling those from New Super Mario Bros. U. In addition to the creation tools, there's a campaign with 100+ levels created by Nintendo and a robust online mode where you can play other players' levels. The online hub features co-op and competitive modes.
Super Mario Odyssey
$42 ($60) Super Mario Odyssey is one of most iconic Switch games for good reason, and it’s now available at a great low price. If you haven't checked this 3D platforming masterpiece, now is a great time to dive in. Aside from a robust single-player game mode, a second player can join in on the fun as Cappy and help with some of the game’s trickier sections.
Super Mario Party
$50 ($60) With 80 minigames and both single-player and multiplayer modes, Super Mario Party gives you plenty of hilarious content to work through. It's a stellar party game with a wide variety of events (such as Bumper Brawl, Smash and Crab, and Off the Chain) that keeps the board game action interesting until the very end.
Triangle Strategy
$50 ($60) Come for the gorgeous HD-2D graphics, stay for the tactical combat and player-driven story. Triangle Strategy has you battling for control of valuable resources against several other factions, and your decisions will impact the outcome of the game.
