Steam Christmas Deals: Games Under $10

Steam's 2019 Winter Sale brings two weeks of discounts on a massive selection of PC games. Whether you're shopping for yourself or for someone on your holiday shopping list, chances are you'll be able to find at least a game or two that will be of interest. Part of the fun of shopping Steam's regular sales is to find a bunch of games discounted to ridiculously cheap prices. After all, if you're adding more games to your backlog, it feels better when they don't cost much.

We've rounded up the best Steam Winter Sale deals for under $10. From AAA hits of the past to clever indies to modern classics, check out the awesome games you can get while going easy on your wallet. The Steam Winter Sale runs until January 2 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.

Along with the discounts, you can also earn tokens to spend at the Steamville Holiday Market. You can get tokens by spending money on games ($1 = 100 tokens) or by completing quests. Tokens can be exchanged for chat stickers, chat effects, and a $5 off coupon to use throughout the sale. The coupon costs 5,000 tokens, so for every $50 you spend, you'll get a $5 off coupon.

Best Steam Winter Sale deals under $10

Doom (2016) | $6

Ahead of Doom Eternal's March 2020 launch, it's a great idea to catch up with Doom, the 2016 reboot of the classic FPS franchise. This fast-paced and gory shooter has a ridiculously fun campaign mode that's worth far more than $6.

Rainbow Six Siege | $8

If you haven't checked out Ubisoft's ever-evolving multiplayer shooter Rainbow Six Siege, now's your chance to get in on the action for just $8. The 2015 team-oriented shooter receives consistent updates and remains one of the best multiplayer shooters around.

Don't Starve | $2.49

Klei Entertainment's Don't Starve is a unique and compelling survival game where you play as a "Gentleman Scientist" named Wilson who unfortunately gets in the crosshairs of a demon. It's quite fun.

BioShock Infinite | $7.49

BioShock Infinite is one of the best games of the decade. Developed by the now defunct Irrational Games, Infinite takes you to the captivating floating city of Columbia for an adventure that is both narratively enriching and filled with awesome shooter gameplay.

Tomb Raider | $3

Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot is six years old at this point, but it's still a stellar action game that plays a lot like the Uncharted series. The $3 price makes it a steal.

Dishonored 2 | $10

Arkane Studios' Dishonored 2 vastly improved upon everything that made the original so great. It's an action game that can be approached from both pacifist and violent angles, and it also tells a gripping story.

Hitman GO: Definitive Edition | $1.59

Hitman GO is always available for under 10 bucks, but right now the masterful turn-based strategy spin-off is on sale for less than two bucks. It'll make for a great little game to play over the holidays.

DmC: Devil May Cry | $7.49

Capcom's Devil May Cry 5 delighted action fans in 2019, but don't forget about Ninja Theory's DmC: Devil May Cry. If you never got around to playing the reimagining of Dante's origin story, you can pick it up for just $7.49.

Max Payne 3 | $7

I'm including Max Payne 3 because I desperately want Rockstar Games to make a new game in the dormant action franchise. Max Payne 3 is also very good, and you should absolutely play it if you haven't already (or play it again!).

Celeste | $10

Celeste was one of the best games of 2018. A 2D platformer that revolves around overcoming self-doubt and anxiety, Celeste has brilliant mechanics that evolve the further you scale the game's snowy mountain. It's easily one of my favorite platformers ever, and it even received a brutally challenging free DLC chapter a few months back.

Stardew Valley | $9

Stardew Valley really needs no introduction at this point. The runaway 2016 indie hit is an addictive ode to Harvest Moon. The calming loop of tending to your farm and interacting with villagers in Pelican Town could very well keep you coming back daily for months or even years. It's that good.

Portal 2 | $1

I'd be curious to know the percentage of Steam users who own Portal 2. It's probably quite high, in large part because Valve practically gives it away during sales nowadays. Regardless, you can pick up one of the greatest games of all time for a measly dollar right now.

Ape Out | $7.49

My personal game of the year, Ape Out is a straightforward action game starring an ape who attempts to escape captivity. It's ultra-violent and settles into a oddly beautiful rhythm thanks to its jazzy soundtrack that accompanies your actions. Ape Out can be completed in a few hours, but it's a relentlessly entertaining trip.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice | $10

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II stole the show at The Game Awards thanks to a harrowing reveal trailer. The Ninja Theory-developed sequel is the first game officially announced for the Xbox Series X. Now's a great time to play the original, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, a chilling action game set in Viking Hell that revolves around madness.

Cities: Skylines | $7.49

Paradox Interactive's Cities: Skylines is the perfect game for anyone who grew up loving SimCity. It's a well-made city building sim with a wealth of depth. It also has a bunch of expansions, if you like what you play.

What Remains of Edith Finch | $8

What Remains of Edith Finch is a beautiful and heartbreaking walking sim that gives you a tour of the Finch household from Edith's perspective. She's the only living member of the family, and you'll discover why as you make your way through this poignant journey. This is a can't-miss experience for fans of narrative-focused games.

Hollow Knight | $7.49

Team Cherry's Hollow Knight is one of the best Metroidvanias ever. The gorgeous art style initially stands out, but Hollow Knight's true greatness comes from uncovering its secrets. The vast and sprawling world is a delight to explore, and the enemies that inhabit it provide a formidable challenge. It's a lengthy game that, rather remarkably, gets better the more you play. With Hollow Knight: Silksong on the horizon (hopefully in 2020), it's a great time to catch up.

Gris | $8.49

Gris is quite possibly the most beautiful game I've ever played. It's a platformer in practice, but Gris is more about taking in the sights and sounds, which morph and evolve the further you progress. It has an important story to tell and relays it almost entirely through its imagery and music.

Yoku's Island Express | $5

Yoku's Island Express combines pinball with platforming to create one of the most innovative Metroidvanias around. Playing as a dung beetle postmaster, you adventure across the colorful Mokumana Island, which is loaded with cleverly-placed pinball boards.

Moonlighter | $8

Moonlighter holds dual identities. It's a town management sim by day, demanding that you sell your wares to townsfolk in your shop. But by night you head north to the dungeons to explore for new items to sell and battle with baddies both big and small. It's basically a combination of Stardew Valley and The Binding of Isaac. In short, Moonlighter rules.
