Borat 2’s Many Incredible Disguises Ranked

We rank all the "Real American Guy" disguises Borat had to don in his Subsequent Moviefilm.

Borat 2, or Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, or several other absurdly long titles depending on the day, is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video. Plenty of viewers--fans and detractors alike--are now reuniting with Sacha Baron Cohen's satirical Kazakhstani journalist, and meeting his daughter, the wonderful Tutar, for the first time.

We liked the sequel quite a lot. One of its best running jokes is the fact that Borat can't go anywhere in US of A without being recognized due to the success of the first movie. Instead, he relies on a series of "regular" American guy disguises to help him do hijinks without being hounded.

Of course, some of those disguises are better than others, so we decided to rank them all in ascending order of efficacy, hilarity, and creativity. Keep scrolling for that, and for more on Borat 2, read our review. Be sure to get in a lengthy argument in the comments. And before you continue, be warned that there will be spoilers from the movie discussed below.

10. "A typical Jew"

Catchphrase: "Very nice weather we have been controlling"

This disguise is so offensive it makes my brain hurt. Of course, that's the point. And the sweet Jewish ladies Borat meets are one of the highlights of the movie.

9. Uninvited Sound Guy

Catchphrase: "Sound problem"

Late in the movie, Borat manages to infiltrate his daughter's interview with Rudy Giuliani. He chooses the surprisingly practical disguise of a sound guy on her crew. Points for efficacy, but it's not very creative.

7. Cliff Safari

Catchphrase: "Hell yeah!"

Cliff Safari lasts about as long in the movie as Rudy Giuliani's deniability once he enters the bedroom with Tutar, but he makes an impression nonetheless.

6. Whatever is happening here

Catchphrase: "She 15, she too old for you"

When Borat bursts back into the room before Giuliani and Tutar can consummate their union, he's wearing this hybrid lingerie and tighty-whiteys number, while retaining Uninvited Sound Guy's beard, wig, and glasses. In July 2020, following the incident, Giuliani described Sacha Baron Cohen's appearance as "a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit...a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top." It was a bold choice, for sure.

5. Stephen Miller

Catchphrase: "Sorry I'm late"

Kicking off the top 5 on the list is the fact that Borat burst into the 2020 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) wearing a full-blown KKK robe and peaked hood, declaring himself to be Stephen Miller. Miller, of course, is an advisor to Trump and a blatant racist.

4. John Chevrolet

Catchphrase: "I want you to make hotzy out of this notzy"

Worried that Tutar's makeover stylists will recognize him and foil his plot to gift his daughter to Vice Premier Mikhael Pence, Borat assumes the persona of John Chevrolet, a Real American.

Mr. Chevrolet ranks high for his bold, quadruple denim style and the cute moments he shares with Tutar at the fair.

3. Professor Phillip Drummond III

Catchphrase: "How much you think my daughter is worth?"

The character Borat inhabits for the debutante ball is Professor Phillip Drummond III, who for some reason is named after the protagonist of the 1978-1985 sitcom Diff'rent Strokes. However, he is also a professor, which earns him extra points.

2. McDonald Trump

Catchphrase: "Mike, You're fired"

The reason this disguise works so well is it's just so incredibly high quality. That's a good thing, because Cohen really did crash Pence's CPAC speech--although nobody knew it was him at the time. No doubt a few puzzled attendees who glimpsed the getup in passing--with Tutar thrown over his shoulder--thought they'd just really witnessed the president on a date.

1. Country Steve

Catchphrase: "You bet your a**hole I am"

Country Steve might be John Chevrolet's country-singing alter ego. That, or Cohen's production decided to save money by re-using certain wigs. Either way, one thing is clear when he takes the stage at the anti-mask rally and gets bumpkins to sing along with lyrics about chopping up journalists and injecting Obama with COVID: Country Steve is a True American Hero.
