Captain America 4 Finds Director

Filmmaker Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox, Luce) will direct Marvel's Captain America 4. The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report.

Pretty much everything else about the film is still unknown, aside from the fact that the it will build on the events from 2021's Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. That show's creator and head writer, Malcolm Spellman, is co-writing the screenplay with Dalan Musson--who was a staff writer on the series. Actor Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson/Falcon, a man who assumed and came to accept the mantle of Captain America in the series.

It remains unclear whether Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers, the first Captain America. Recently, directing duo and brothers Joe and Anthony Russo made a compelling pitch for Evans to instead return to the MCU to someday play Wolverine. There's at least one very real reason why Evans could realistically play Wolverine--the MCU's forays into the multiverse, particularly Doctor Strange 2, has plausibly opened the door for pretty much anything. There's also at least one very real reason why Evans could realistically not play Wolverine--he's seemingly retired from playing Captain America, and may be taking a break from the MCU. But again, anything could be possible.
