Wow. 40 years. That will make a body feel old. Speaking of old bodies, 2014 will be the 40th anniversary of the Mego type 2 body. To comemorate that milestone the men behind both Cast-A-Way Toys and ZICA toys have teamed up to re-imagine the Mego type 2 body for the 21st century. I have praised the ZICA “re-mego” body they created for their 8″ Buck Rogers figure. Now this team up plans to take that same technology and re do the Mego type 2 body so it looks the same on the outside but features a more sturdy internal mechanism that will allow for better poseability.

Kansas City, Missouri., (June 24, 2013) –Castaway Toys and ZiCA Toys are teaming up to revive Castaway Toys and inject some fresh new ideas into the 8 inch retro market. Castaway Toys (Captain Action/Phantom) lost its tooling in China back in 2010 thus halting all production in 8 inch (1/9th) scale. This new Kick starter project, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the production of MEGO’s classic type two body, looks to produce an all new solid constructed 8 inch body!
This project aims to bring the retro body into the future, while keeping the aesthetic intact. Without taking away from the look they have carefully added some extra articulation points to make this classic body even better! The original 16 points of articulation is boosted to 22! Including better shoulder articulation, swivels at the elbow and removable feet. With the added ease of customization this body is a dream to work with and strives for 100 percent compatibility with all products past future and present!
The prototype is ready for production and both Craig and David have proven track records for bringing awesome 8 inch projects to life! This is the first step into full scale production including; all new custom accessories and fully licensed action figures!
