Crash Bandicoot 4 Demo Out Next Week, New Playable Character Revealed

Most of the characters introduced in the original Crash Bandicoot have stuck around in one way or another throughout the series' history, but the same can't be said for Tawna. Once a love interest for Crash before being completely ejected from the series, the character is back in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.

In keeping with the sequel's theme of dimension hopping, Tawna isn't the same character that Crash and Coco have met before. Instead she's an entirely new one from another dimension--a heroine with a grappling hook that is Crash Bandicoot 4's final playable character. Just like Neo Cortex and Dingodile, Tawna will have specific levels catered to her play style, which you can see in the extended gameplay below from PlayStation Underground.

Tawna is more agile than any other character, with the ability to do wall jumps and swings with her grappling hook. The hook itself is a weapon, too, which can be used to take out enemies at a distance. Tawna can also spin and hop on enemies to dispatch them too. As seen in the gameplay, Tawna's levels will also be featured in the game's previously announced Inverted mode, which flips each stage and adds new twists to them (in this case a monochromatic mode where you splash color around with your actions).
