Daniel Craig’s Knives Out Character Benoit Blanc Is “Obviously” Queer, Director Confirms

While promoting his upcoming Netflix film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Rian Johnson has confirmed that lead character Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig is gay. Blanc's partner makes a cameo appearance in the film, which is due out in November for a brief run in theaters, followed by its debut on Netflix.

As reported by Deadline, Johnson was speaking about the film following its showing at the London Film Festival over the weekend. In reference to a scene where Blanc was shown apparently living with another man, the director was asked if that meant that the Knives Out protagonist is gay.

"Yes, he obviously is," Johnson responded. Blanc's partner in the film is played as a cameo role by a well-known British actor, but both Johnson and Daniel Craig avoided saying the actor's name for the sake of audiences who won't see the film until November. Johnson added about the unnamed actor: "there’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with."
