Dark Horse was the first company out of the gate to lock down a Game of Thrones merchandise license.   In the original press release back in 2011 Dark Horse enticed fans with all of the different types of product that was available to them in this deal:

Dark Horse Deluxe is proud to announce, in partnership with HBO, a vast Game of Thrones product line debuting in the spring of 2012, leading up to the show’s second-season premiere in April. Licensed product categories derived from the series will span a large range, including statues, busts, and action figures; prop and jewelry replicas; and barware, stationery, and other collectibles. This exciting new line of products debuts with a range of branded magnets, patches, playing cards, coaster sets, and more.

Here’s Dark Horse’s description of Tyrion:

The Tyrion Lannister figure measures 6″ tall, and is based on the likeness of the actor from the HBO series.

The paint application is of the highest standards, reproducing the nuances of the character’s likeness and costume. Presented in a deluxe window box packaging echoing the HBO series’ graphic design.

The packaging for these figures are packaged in  a full-color window box, with a large front window displaying the figure.

The figure itself is 6″ and is not articulated.     It’s a “staction” figure with no articulation.   The figure comes attached to a non-removable base.   If you are looking for an articulated action figure then Funko’s Legacy GOT figures will be more your speed.  But if you are looking for a nice line of reasonably priced 6-8″ figures in iconic scenes and poses from the series then this is the line for you.

I think the likeness sculpts on the second wave are even better than the first wave.   That said, the likeness on Tyrion is probably the weakest of this wave.   I think it’s the eyes that are off.   Peter Dinklage has such distinct eyes that are close, but the shape and position are not quite captured when looking at the figure straight on.   The paint on the figure is very clean and the costume details are really nice.

They even added the extra level of detail that this is really a printed map on the side of the parchment he is looking at:
