Devil’s Third PC, tablet development outsourced

Valhalla taps Doobic Game Studios to bring upcoming action game to PC and tablets; firms establish mysterious joint venture Valhalla&Doobic Co., Ltd.

The PC and tablet versions of Tomonobu Itagaki's action game Devil's Third will be developed by Doobic Game Studios, Valhalla Game Studios CEO Satoshi Kanematsu announced today. Doobic is based in South Korea and is currently working on online PC shooter Shadow Company.

Valhalla and Doobic have signed a technical collaboration contract for Devil's Third that also sees the firms establishing a joint venture corporation called Valhalla&Doobic Co., Ltd. No other projects from the new company were announced.

In addition to PC and tablets, Devil's Third is slated to arrive for home consoles, as well as other unspecified digital devices. Valhalla has not announced a publisher for the console versions of the game. On top of this, Valhalla today reiterated that it plans to expand the Devil's Third property through various forms of entertainment, including film and manga.

Devil's Third was announced at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo, and was to be published by THQ. However, outgoing THQ executive Danny Bilson said in May he was not sure if the company would publish Devil's Third, after THQ revealed it was looking to offload the project.
