Did Someone in Bin Laden’s Compound Read GameSpot?

The US government on Wednesday declassified hundreds of documents found in Osama Bin Laden's Abbottabad compound following SEAL Team Six's 2011 raid. Among the documents are a few surprises, one of which is that someone in his compound possibly played Delta Force Xtreme 2 and read GameSpot.

No, really.

Under the section "Documents Probably Used by Other Compound Residents," there are two video game entries.

They are:

  • Delta Force Extreme 2 [sic] Videogame Guide
  • Game Spot [sic] Videogame Guide

There's no indication that Bin Laden or anyone in his compound studied the game--named after the famous Army special ops team--to learn its tactics.

And, again, these are documents believed to have been read by someone other than Bin Laden.

You can see all the documents recovered from Bin Laden's compound--which includes materials about suicide-prevention and even the Illuminati--at the US government's "Bin Laden's Bookshelf" page.
