Disney bringing Brave game home this summer

Third-person action game based on Pixar's upcoming fantasy film headed to Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PC/Mac this summer alongside movie.

Pixar's upcoming fantasy adventure Brave hits theaters this summer, and Disney today said it will have a game ready to launch alongside it.

Due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, DS, PC, and Mac, Brave: The Video Game is a third-person action adventure title. Gamers are cast as Merida, the expert archer and hero of the film. In the console versions of the game, players can also take on the roles of other characters from the film.

Disney did not say if Brave: The Video Game will follow the events of the film--due in theaters on June 22--or tell its own story. The company did say that players can embark on quests in a "magical world" and solve puzzles to unearth secrets. The Xbox 360 version is compatible with the Kinect, with the PS3 iteration offering gamers control using the PlayStation Move peripheral.

The console versions of Brave: The Video Game include a single-player campaign, cooperative support, and an exclusive mode where players take on the role of a bear.

Brave: The Video Game is in development at Behaviour Interactive in Montreal.
