Divinity: Original Sin 2 Goes Offline With A Brand-New, Fully-Funded Board Game

Larian Studios' isometric RPG, Divinity: Original Sin 2, has gone offline in a brand-new board game in partnership with Lynnvander Studios. The board game, Divinity: Original Sin – The Board Game, has been fully-funded in just four hours.

According to the Kickstarter page, Divinity: Original Sin – The Board Game takes the essence of Divinity: Original Sin 2 and condenses it into a four-player tabletop RPG composed of "a branching, narrative adventure filled with tactical combat and meaningful choices." The package is expected to ship sometime next year.

Larian Studios, the developer responsible for the Divinity: Original Sin franchise, shared an announcement video of the team playing the game. The studio also discussed its plans for the board game and how the Kickstarter community can get involved.

Divinity: Original Sin – The Board Game will include some brand-new playable characters alongside beloved Divinity: Original Sin 2 warriors like Ifan Ben-Mezd and The Red Prince. The boxset comes with the board game, four player boards, 16 dice, 270 tokens, 851 playing cards, character and NPC miniatures, and "a completely original Chronical System that allows player choices to not only impact their own adventure but also the future direction of the board game."

In a press release, Larian Studios' founder Swen Vincke said that building a tabletop board game was something he wanted to do for a very long time. "We’ve been on the lookout for a partner who could successfully capture the Divinity: Original Sin experience in a board game format," Vincke said. "After many, many prototypes, we’re delighted to say Lynnvander have really come up with something that hit the core of what we tried to do with Divinity."
