Dying Light Nets 1.2 Million Players in First Week

Open-world zombie game Dying Light appears to be off to a solid start.

The game has attracted more than 1.2 million players since its release last week, according to the title's official Twitter account.

That figure counts the number of unique players across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC from January 27-February 2. Dying Light was originally scheduled to also come to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but those versions were canceled in October 2014.

The game's install base is likely to grow further still, as physical copies of the game will be released across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia later this month. The game is available digitally in those regions, but physical versions were delayed at the last minute.

GameSpot's Dying Light review scored the game 7/10. Critic Kevin VanOrd said: "I am rooting for Dying Light's success, even as I shake my head at its avoidable foibles." Read the full review here.
