Exorcism director behind Deus Ex movie

Sinister, Exorcism of Emily Rose captain Scott Derrickson to direct upcoming film based on Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

CBS Films has tapped Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) to direct the upcoming Deus Ex: Human Revolution film adaptation, the company announced today. He will also write the screenplay for the film alongside C. Robert Cargill (Sinister).

The untitled Deus Ex film will be produced by Roy Lee (The Departed, The Ring) and Adrian Askarieh (Hitman). John P. Middleton, who is working on a number of upcoming films, including supernatural horror movie 7500, will serve as executive producer.

"Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson said in a statement. ”By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can't wait to bring it to the big screen."

CBS Films is also working with Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal on the project. The film was announced in July, though no actors or a release date have been announced.

CBS Films is a division of CBS Corporation, which is GameSpot's parent company.
