Fall Out Boy Return, Drop New Song, ‘My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up),’ And A Video Featuring 2 Chainz!

Fall Out Boy are BACK with a brand-new song, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)."

It's official -- comeback fever has struck the pop music world. Just ask Destiny's Child (um, or how about WATCH Destiny's Child perform at last night's Super Bowl Halftime show), Justin Timberlake, New Kids On The Block, 98 Degrees... shall we go on? Now, in the latest string of comebacks (but don't call it a reunion -- we'll explain why in a minute), pop-punk stalwarts Fall Out Boy are BACK (!!) with a brand-new single, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)," news of a new record to hit in May, and a massive tour to top it off. This the take over, the break's over, Fall Out Boy fans.

Oh, and did we mention that Fall Out Boy's new album, Save Rock and Roll, will drop on the same date as 2003's Take This To Your Grave, marking the 10th anniversary of the band's very first album ever? You could never accuse Fall Out Boy of being unsentimental.

Taking on a considerably more inflammatory (heh) vibe than their earlier melodic/emo/pop output, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)" is a forceful, anthemic, dark track, which even slides into '80s hair metal territory at times with high-pitched, squealing guitars and some Whitesnake-ish shrieking. Even more amazing is "My Songs Know"'s new video starring 2 Chainz, which has the rapper acting like a straight-up pyromaniac as he "Terminator"-walks around a dark, wooded campsite torching everything (mostly foliage and CDs) in sight.

And just a reminder: Don't go calling this Fall Out Boy's "comeback" a "reunion" -- because that's not exactly the word the boys would use: "When we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music. It's why we started Fall Out Boy in the first place. This isn't a reunion because we never broke up. We needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us... the future of fall out boy starts now. save rock and roll..." the guys wrote in a statement on their website. Got it. So, they were always mostly sort of around -- despite not releasing any new music for three years. Well, whatever they say! We're just too busy compiling celebratory Saves The Day/Dashboard Confessional/Coheed And Cambria/Fall Out Boy early aughts emo-punk compilations to worry about semantics.

While you're waiting impatiently for Save Rock and Roll to drop, you can always distract yourself with Fall Out Boy's tour dates -- Fall Out Boy hits the road on May 14 in Milwaukee and will tour the United States through the end of June.
