Family Of The Year Lose The Shirt Off Their Backs (And Their Pants) In Their ‘Diversity’ Video

Family of the Year

Family of the Year: Not safe for work, very safe for ears.

Los Angeles quartet Family of the Year's only been around since 2009, but let's just say the group's had plenty of time to get comfortable. The indie-rockers' darling new "Diversity" video is an, um, intimate look at the band, which includes brothers Joe and Sebastian Keefe. The performance video's set in an ersatz living room mocked up on an L.A. street, where everything's up for grabs: Passersby borrow the couch, paintings and even singer Joe Keefe's hat. But it doesn't stop there. The pillaging continues until new invaders steal the shirts off the bands' backs -- and then some. Naked Family of the Year: kinda hairy, but overall, not bad. (Real talk -- thanks for the reminder, that not all of us can be as hair-free as Zac Efron.) It's another full-frontal indie rock video, albeit far less bleak than Matt & Kim's naked spin.

The video's a goof on one of the song's triumphant lyrics, "No one is ever gonna take anything from me again." Beyond their beach-ready bods, the band plays the kind of sing-along indie that's perfect for summer bonfires and backyard barbecues -- think Grouplove or Walk The Moon. Family of the Year's been on the road with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Mumford & Sons and more, so they know a thing or two about coaxing a crowd to shout a chorus. The band's "Diversity" EP is out now, with Nettwerk debut album Loma Vista due out July 10.
