Flight of the Valkyrie

I’ve had these since before Christmas.  Yes, Christmas of last year.  I got such a good deal buying so many Funko Pops between Black Friday and Cyber Monday that I never got around to opening them all.  I opened Korg a while back.  Thor got opened to do my last blog, about the Guardians of the Galaxy.  Today, I was inspired to set Valkyrie free.

Thor Team Front

Thor, Valkyrie, Korg from Thor Love and Thunder.

Here they are inside the box.

I know a lot of people do not take these out of the box.  But if you do not, you never see the detail on the back.  Just look at the detail sculpted into Thor’s and Valkyrie’s hair and the back of Korg’s head.

Thor Team Back

One store I go to has so many Funko Pops on display, that they put them on the shelves side facing out so they can put more on the shelf.  Like this.

Thor Team Side Box

Here is a shot of these Funko Pops from the side.  Again, notice the sculpting details.  Go back and look at the picture from the front of the box.  You can barely see Thor’s axe, Valkyrie’s sword, or Korg’s Sakaaran Laser Rifle.

One thing Funko does very well is advertising the entire wave on the back of the box.  At the same time, the back of each box is distinctive with an image of the included figure.

One last thing I want to mention is Funk Pop stands.  Valkyrie and a number of other Pops come with a clear stand that visually disappears into the packaging.  It is almost invisible and indistinguishable from the plastic bubble.  I did not notice they existed until I had bought and opened a number of Funko Pops to put on display.  Then I went foraging through my boxes and found the rest of the stands I had missed.

Stand In Package

Separate stands are more common on standing figures that have skinny legs, like Valkyrie.  In flight pose stands, like Thor has here, are permanently attached.  Here is a close up of the stand out of the box on a contrasting background.  If you open Funko Pops and throw the boxes away, be sure to look for these so you do not lose the stands in the trash.
