Football Manager 2014’s new features announced

Developer Sports Interactive confirms that Football Manager 2014 will be released for PC, Mac, and Linux before Christmas 2013.

Sports Interactive and SEGA have announced the details of Football Manager 2014, confirming that the game will be available on Linux for the first time this year.

Like previous versions, Football Manager 2014 will also be available for PC and Mac.

Other headline features of this year's iteration include support for Steam Workshop and cloud saves. Players can also create in-game challenges using the game's new challenge editor.

Sports Interactive says the game will sport an "improved" 3D match engine, alongside "extensive" improvements to the game's technology, and an "enhanced" user interface.

Additionally, the Classic mode introduced last year will see new features.

Sports Interactive have previously said that Football Manager 2013 was the most successful game in the series so far.

No firm release date has been given, but the game will launch before Christmas 2013.

Customers who choose to preorder the game from a participating retailer will gain access to a beta version of the game about two weeks ahead of its launch, with the option to bring careers from the beta into the final game.

GameSpot awarded Football Manager 2013 a score of 8.0 in its review of the game.
