Last night's "Game of Thrones" finale ended with quite a few loose ends and cliffhangers, but no one was left . His fate is unclear, and even star Alfie Allen doesn't know what's in store for Theon next season.

"Basically, the way I go out I could be dead or I could be alive, and I still don't know whether I am or not in a way. It's scary," Allen told MTV News last week. "The tension continues, even in real life."Warning: several "Game of Thrones" and "A Song of Ice and Fire" spoilers ahead.

Theon's character is absent from the "Song of Ice and Fire" series for several novels, so many assume he's dead. It's not until the fifth book, "A Dance With Dragons," that we get confirmation, and that revelation is potentially three or four seasons down the road for the HBO TV series (depending on how show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss opt to split up the books). The big question is how long we'll have to wait to see Theon again. Will he be incorporated into the third and fourth season plotlines? Apparently, those discussions don't yet involve Allen.

"I don't know anything, I have not got a clue," Allen insisted. "I wish I did, but they're just like that — Dave and Dan, they like to keep you on your toes," he explained. "But it's cool, it's great. I'm up for it, I'm game. Just looking forward to maybe being in [season] three, maybe not, [but] I'm looking forward to seeing what happens."

The actor has only read up through the series' third book, "A Storm of Swords," so he doesn't know quite how Theon's story will unfold in the fifth title, "A Dance With Dragons." He has, however, been told that there's at least one scene he should be excited about filming.

"I've heard about the tree scene, people told me about the tree, in front of the tree," he said, referencing a moment in "Dance" where Theon gets emotional in the Winterfell Godswood. "Breaking down and begging for forgiveness in front of it — that sounds brilliant and I can't wait. If things go that far, that would be amazing."

Fans might be hating Theon right now, especially after Winterfell was destroyed in last night's episode, but don't worry, they might like him further down the road. At least, they might not hate him as much.

"It's brilliant. I think [Theon] just later on in the books gets a chance to redeem himself slightly. You definitely feel sorry for him at that point in the series, maybe all stuff in beginning will be [foregone] and you'll concentrate on ... it's pretty deep what happens to him," Allen continued, teasing more "Dance" plotlines. "I think he gets tortured quite a lot and he believes he's someone else for a point and gets psychologically tortured as well. As an actor, you couldn't ask for any more. It's going to be great, I can't wait."
